Celebrating 40 Years in Our Kapaa Store Location
Forty years ago, in 1976, as the United States celebrated its Bicentennial, Jim Saylor moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to the remote Hawaiian Island of Kauai. With him he brought a fishing tackle box of jewelry making tools and supplies. He rented a small, closet-sized space in Old Kapaa Town and began selling, repairing and hand-crafting fine gold jewelry. Back then, the building was shared with a barber shop and a gift store selling trinkets.
Since that time, Jim Saylor Jewelers has grown to fill the building (which was destroyed by Hurricane Iniki in September 1992, and subsequently rebuilt). The entire space is now occupied by Jim's beautiful jewelry showroom and full service workshop. The business has grown as well, employing additional goldsmiths and a knowledgeable sales team that includes Jim's beautiful and brilliant daughter, Sara, and a GIA Certified Gemologist, Toni. Visitors to the shop will occasionally be greeted by Jim's 5-year old granddaughter, Waipuhia, when she's here "helping" her mother and "Papa" in the shop!
